Antonio (Tony)

Antonio (Tony) came to us from the SPCA in early November. He is 8 1/2 years old and very mellow. He had been adopted out last year, but came back because of his inability to be house-trained. In the two weeks we have had him in foster, he has gone from marking furniture several times a day to about once every two or three days. We have used a belly band to help train him, and he is responding well to the training because he does not like the belly band.

  • About Tony
  • Tony gets along well with people, other dogs and cats. He will put on his best smile for you! He has absolutely no dominance issues, and gets along very well with his foster home's male Italian Greyhound and male Whippet, plus all the female Iggies, Whippets, and Greyhound.

  • His favorite place is sitting next to his foster-mom wherever she is, especially when she's at the computer because there is a doggie platform right next to the keyboard, and she pets with one hand while typing with the other.

  • Tony weighed 23.5 lbs when we got him, but he is on a diet and slimming down a little now. He is about 16" tall. He is neutered and all his vaccinations are up-to-date.

  • Tony is bald on his back, and has lots of tiny pimples on the skin. The veterinarian thought that the pimples might be bacterial in origin, so we started putting triple antibiotic cream on his skin, and it is clearing up. Despite the lack of hair on his back, Tony's skin is soft and very easy to pet. He has lots of freckles, too! He does have hair on his legs, head, ears, neck, tummy and tail.

  • Because he is bald on his back, Tony gets chilly easily when the temperature is cool outside, and loves to wear the sweater we gave him. He cuddles up under it when he's on our laps or wherever he goes. He loves to cuddle, sit on laps, and rubs up against you like a cat when he's not being held.
