ADOPTED!
Shelby is an adorable little two-year-old Italian Greyhound girl. She is one of the original group of Italian Greyhounds turned over to rescue a few months ago from a puppy mill in Florida. The five were in such terrible shape, and all so forlorn, that they quickly became known as the "Florida Forlorn Five." With the love and attention she received in foster care, Shelby has already shown a lot of progress. Now that she's in her own forever home, she'll have the time and love it will take to solve her problems permanently.
- Shelby is VERY sweet, but shy. She loves to cuddle; you can pick her up and carry her everywhere or have her on your lap and she just loves it.
- Shelby leash-walks well, and is working on the command COME. She has shown that she can jump a 4-foot x-pen in her Florida foster home, but did not show any desire to do so with her second foster home. For her safety, she was kept on a long lead while outside, even within the fenced area, until her foster family was sure she wouldn't try to jump the fence.
- Shelby barely weighed 10 pounds when she came into foster, and was put on a weight-gaining diet.
- After just two weeks in her second foster home, she had only one potty-training accident. She uses both the wee-wee pads and goes outside willingly, even in the cold, with proper clothes on.
- Shelby is not dominant; definitely a follower. She tries very hard to please. In her foster home she lived with three Greyhounds, two other Italian Greyhounds, three cats, and loves to follow children around.
- Now, in her forever home, she has another Italian Greyhound to keep company with, and two lovely little girls.
